How Christ Embassy Pastor Deceived, Duped A Man Of N4.5m – Witness

One Osazuwa Okungbowa, Tuesday told an Ikeja High Court sitting in Lagos State how a Port Harcourt-based pastor, Gobari Maxwell, of the Believers’ Love World Ministry, aka Christ Embassy duped him to the tune of N4.5 million.
Okungbowa dragged the pastor before the chief judge, Justice Kudirat Jose, claiming he was deceived by the pastor into believing that he would help him procure two plots of land near the Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Bori Camp.
A detective, Shedrach Ternenge Iyo, attached to the Cyber- Crime Section of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, told the court that the commission received a petition from the complainant sometime in September 2013, alleging that the pastor received N4.5 million from him through his wife’s First Bank account in a bid to buy two plots of land.
Detective Iyo, while being led in evidence by the prosecution, A. A. Adebayo, said the accused was not invited by the commission since he couldn’t be reached through the phone.
Iyo added that the accused was, however, arrested in Port Harcourt and brought to Lagos for proper investigation, New Telegraph is reporting.
Detective Iyo, reading the charge sheet before the court, said, “Maxwell allegedly committed the offence on June 12, 2012 at Ikeja Judicial Division by dishonestly converting the said sum to his personal use.
“During investigation, the agency sent a letter to the two banks which were used for the transaction; a First Bank account belonging to the complainant’s wife and a Diamond Bank account belonging to the pastor, requesting for account statements.
“When we received the banks’ response, we analysed both accounts and discovered that the sum transferred for the land purchase was N3.8 million while N700,000 was transferred as a loan to the pastor.
“Okungbowa made the land payments in seven instalments through his wife’s bank account from June24 to May 31, 2012 in the variations of N300, 000 and N500, 000 consecutively.
“After volunteering a statement and being read a caution, the pastor confessed to have received the money but claimed he used it to settle his elder brother’s hospital bills, who was brought back to Nigeria from the United States of America (USA) for treatment.
“The accused is facing a one-count charge of stealing contrary to Section 258(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No. 11, 2011,” the detective added.
When asked by the prosecution if the agency visited the said land, Iyo said “we didn’t visit the land since the accused had told us that there was actually no land to visit and besides the area was under grave crises.
“The pastor told the commission that there is no land and he didn’t have any specific land to buy for him, beside the area he had promised to purchase for him was already having community fights.”
But the defense counsel, V. I. P. Nwana, argued that the witness was not the maker of the said document and therefore could not testify to its documentation as exhibit.
He also argued that detective Iyo was not a bank operative and under the Evidence Act could only give evidence to the said document if the originator of the document was permanently indisposed to tender it, which was not the case.
He further objected to the statement of account which was presented to be tendered as exhibit by the prosecution.
In her ruling, Justice Jose adjourned the matter till April 13 and 14 for trial.

See Top Reasons Why Many Upcoming Artistes Will Never Blow In Nigeria (No. 2 Is Soo True!!)

Have you sat back and wondered why most Nigerian upcoming musicians never make it in the industry?
Is it because they are not talented?
If you are an upcoming musician then you better continue reading this educating Article.
Below are some reasons why upcoming musicians in Nigeria never become famous:
1- Pride
Pride is a determinant factor of how a precarious music artist will elevate in his musical career.
Yet it is evident that this habit is popular among upcoming heads in Nigeria.
They always give an exaggerated expression of their financial status through flamboyant dressing on social media.
This false lifestyle eventually alienates them from help.
2- They Don’t Advertise Themselves
Nothing comes cheap in Nigeria.
To become famous, you have to advertise yourself aggressively in the highly competitive music industry and the internet is a very vital tool.
Advertising your tracks on good music websites, for example,Naijaloaded.com.ng where ardent music lovers are always at alert to download songs and share with their friends.
Sharing your song links on social media platforms like Instagram and Twittergives you a chance of being noticed.
3- They Patronise Cheap Producers
You need not to sing like Michael Jacksonbefore you become famous.
And, the impact of good production cannot be overemphasized.
Most upcoming artistes are fond of patronising shady producers who produce low quality contents at a cheaper rate.
4- Use Of Widespread Instrumentals
Most well known producers in the industry, including: Young John, Dj Coublon, Ekelly, Masterkraft, Kezyklef, Killertunes dish out dope beats free of charge online.
However, most upcoming musicians do not make use of this initiative, instead, they resort to over used instrumentals.
5- Lack Of Creativity
What makes a potential artist standout iscreativity and uniqueness.
Yet, many upcoming artistes fail to get to the peak of their dreams because of lack of creativity.
6- Immature Lyrics & Chorus
Good lyrics and punch lines is all you need to at least gain some recognition, especially as an upcoming head.
When you listen to the songs of many upcoming artistes in Nigeria however, you will keep wondering if the songs were composed in the space of 2 minutes, garnished with uncoordinated lyrics.
Some will sing a chorus repeatedly for about 4 minutes after which a short verse will follow and that is it. Sickening!
7- Imitating the style of others
To succeed in life, you have to do something others are not doing, or what they have never done.
Rapper Olamide has is ownstyle in the industry.
Lil Kesh is also a good example when it comes to style. You have to fake something to get there, dont be a copy cat
Mr Eazi stepped into the Nigerian music industry with his own self made character that most producers and musicians are emulating his methods.
Every artiste should have his own style which becomes ultimately their brand, so why copy their style as a leverage to also get to your limelight??
Create your own style!!

List of 3 African Countries Trump Will No Longer Issue Visa

Barely a week after the inauguration of Donald Trump as the president of the United States, he is coming to terms with being in office and making moves to make the United States a better place.
Donald Trump, according to reports, is expected to approve some executive orders that include visa denial for citizens of Syria and six other middle eastern and African countries.
This tweet by the American president is believed to give credence to report on visa application denial and subsequent security measures in the United States:
Here is a list of the countries that may never be allowed to visit the United States under Donald Trump’s reign as the 45th American leader:
1. Libya
2. Somalia
3 Sudan
4. Yemen
5. Syria
6. Iraq
7. Iran

An undisclosed congressional aide and immigration experts revealed this and also backed it up by saying this move is in connection with the tweet.
According to Reuters, Stephen Legomsky, the chief counsel at US citizenship and immigration services in the last administration, informed that Trump has the legal power to limit refugee admissions and the issuance of visas to specific countries if the administration determined it was in the public’s interest.
The professor at Washington University School of Law in St Louis, said: “From a legal standpoint, it would be exactly within his legal rights.
“But from a policy standpoint, it would be terrible idea because there is such an urgent humanitarian need right now for refugees.”
The American president is expected to sign the first of the orders at the Department of Homeland Security, where immigration and border security-related issues are also being handled.
There had been a widespread uproar during Trump’s campaign when he proposed a temporary ban on Muslims migrating to the United States, this he believed, would protect the citizens from jihadist attacks.
But rather than place a ban on those of a specific religion, Trump and his nominee for attorney general, Senator Jeff Sessions, have agreed to focus on restrictions instead, with special focus on countries whose migrants could pose a threat.
Meanwhile, the American president has started fulfilling some of the promises he made prior to his election in November, 2016.
According to reports, Trump will sign an order for the construction of a wall along the Mexico border.
